Class timings and details: At least 5 hours of class conducted each week. Students can enroll for morning batch or evening batch. Weekly tests conducted every Sunday.

Class 12 CBSE Maths Syllabus 2021-22
Term 1 - Max marks for Exam: 40 (MCQ format)

Chapter 1: Relations and Functions: 

Weightage: 8 marks for the first 2 chapters. (Relations and Functions and Inverse Trigonometry together)

Topics included in the syllabus: Reflexive, symmetric, transitive and equivalence relations. One to one and onto functions. Students are expected to not skip Exercises 1.1 and 1.2 in NCERT.

Deleted Portions: Composite functions, Invertible functions, inverse of a function, Binary operations. 
Exercises 1.3 and 1.4 can be exempted from studying.

Chapter 2: Inverse Trigonometry: 

Topics included in the syllabus: Definition, range, domain, principal value branch.
Students are expected not to skip Exercise 2.1

Deleted Portions: Properties of Inverse Trigonometric functions and graphs of inverse trigonometric functions

Problems based on properties of inverse trigonometric functions in Exercise 2.2 can be skipped while studying.

Chapter 3: Matrices: 

Weightage: 10 marks for the chapters 3 and 4. (Matrices and Determinants together)

Topics included in the syllabus: Concept, notation, order, equality, types of matrices, zero and identity matrix, transpose of a matrix, symmetric and skew symmetric matrices. Operation on matrices: Addition and multiplication and multiplication with a scalar. Simple properties of addition, multiplication and scalar multiplication. Noncommutativity of multiplication of matrices, Invertible matrices; (Here all matrices will have real entries).

Students are expected to not skip any exercises in NCERT.

Chapter 4: Determinants
 

Topics included in the syllabus: Determinant of a square matrix (up to 3 x 3 matrices), minors, co-factors and applications of determinants in finding the area of a triangle. Adjoint and inverse of a square matrix. Solving system of linear equations in two or three variables (having unique solution) using inverse of a matrix.

Students are expected to not skip Exercises 1.1 and 1.2 in NCERT.

Deleted Portions
: Properties of Determinants. Exercise 4.2 can be exempted from studying.

Chapter 5: Continuity and Differentiability: 

Weightage: 17 marks for chapters 5 and 6. (Continuity and Differentiability and Applications of Derivatives together)

Topics included in the syllabus: Continuity and differentiability, derivative of composite functions, chain rule, derivative of inverse trigonometric functions, derivative of implicit functions. Concept of exponential and logarithmic functions. Derivatives of logarithmic and exponential functions. Logarithmic differentiation, derivative of functions expressed in parametric forms. Second order derivatives.

Deleted Portions
: Mean value theorem and Rolle's Theorem. Exercise 5.8 can be exempted from studying.

Chapter 6: Applications of Derivatives: 

Topics included in the syllabus: Applications of derivatives: increasing/decreasing functions, tangents and normals, maxima and minima (first derivative test motivated geometrically and second derivative test given as a provable tool). Simple problems (that illustrate basic principles and understanding of the subject as well as real life situations).

Deleted Portions
: Rate of change of quantities, Approximation using derivatives. 
Exercises 6.1 and 6.4 can be exempted from studying.

Chapter 12: Linear Programming: 

Weightage: 5 marks

Topics included in the syllabus: Introduction, related terminology such as constraints, objective function, optimization, different types of linear programming (L.P.) problems. Graphical method of solution for problems in two variables, feasible and infeasible regions (bounded), feasible and infeasible solutions, optimal feasible solutions (up to three non-trivial constraints).

Students are expected to not skip Exercises 12.1 and 12.2 in NCERT (Bounded region problems only). Also, the statement problems need to be studied, ability to frame constraints using the statements and solving the LPP will be tested in the exam. 

Deleted Portions: Unbounded region, Transportation problems.
